John Mica's involvement with the Young Republicans dates back to 1961 at the University of Florida. In 1962, Mica along with approximately 14 other Young Republicans, were charter and founding members of the University of Florida Young Republicans club. In those days it was difficult to find many conservative young college students to sign on as Young Republicans.
Elected as a State Representative from Orange County in 1976, Mica served as State Coordinator of the College Republicans from 1978 to 1980. From 1970-1972, he was a member of the Palm Beach County Young Republicans and the Orange County Young Republicans from 1973 to election to Congress in 1992.
Louis Frey Jr. was a member of the Orange County YRs. He served as FFYR Chairman from 1964-66 and YRNF General Counsel in 1967.

Mike Haridopolos has been a member of the Brevard County Young Republican Club since 1999.
Mike was elected to the Florida Senate in March of 2003. Previously, he was elected to the Florida House in November of 2000 with 65% of the vote after earlier winning a six-way Republican primary in September. In 2002, he was reelected by a margin of 79% to 21%.
Mike was featured in Florida Trend magazine as one "...who could shape Florida politics until 2008." He was also recently named by Political Hotline as one of five rising Republican stars in Florida state politics.
He has led the fight against more government, higher taxes, and unrestrained spending since his election. Mike is a co-founder of the Freedom Caucus that led the fight against the tax increase proposed during the 2002 session.
